Evan has owned and operated The Barn Door Hardware Store since 2016. The DIY pine door kit is the most accessible entry point for customers who want a complete barn door solution without sourcing the door panel separately. He and the team are available 7 days a week at info@thebarndoorhardwarestore.com.
We almost always recommend sourcing a barn door panel locally — it's less expensive than buying a panel with shipping and the door can acclimate to your home before installation. But there's a scenario where that advice doesn't apply: when you want a complete solution that ships quickly without sourcing anything separately.
The DIY pine barn door kit is our house value line door panel — a natural pine door that arrives ready to assemble in the design of your choice, with your finish already applied if you want it. Sliding barn door hardware is sold separately — or browse our complete barn door kits that pair this door with house value line hardware in your chosen configuration. Everything ships from the same place, in the same order.
The DIY pine barn door panel kit
The door kit includes all the wood components needed to assemble a natural pine barn door in the design of your choice. No woodworking or cutting required — the pieces are pre-cut and labeled, assembly uses foam dowels, screws, and dowels with a rubber mallet and drill. The door comes out flat-packed in a single secure box.
Available designs
Choose one design at checkout:
- H — horizontal center rail with two panels
- Single X — diagonal cross brace on the lower panel
- Double X — diagonal cross braces on both panels
- Arrow — chevron-style decorative panel
- K — asymmetrical diagonal brace design
Sizes
Heights available: 80 in, 84 in, 96 in. Widths: 20–60 in in custom increments. Select your dimensions at checkout — the kit is cut and packed to your specified size.
Finish options
Unfinished pine ships in 1–5 business days. If you'd prefer a pre-stained door, choose from eight stain colors at checkout — stained doors take 8–10 business days before shipping:
- Classic gray
- Dark walnut
- Early American
- Ebony
- Navy
- Red mahogany
- Royal pine
- Tinsmith gray
If you choose an unfinished door, we recommend painting or staining the individual wood components before assembly — it's much easier to get even coverage on flat pieces than on a fully assembled panel.
Complete kits — door and hardware together
If you want the door panel and sliding hardware in one order, we offer complete kits across nine configurations. All use house value line hardware in matte black or brushed nickel and include the door panel sized to your specifications. These are separate products from the door-only kit — order the complete kit if you want door and hardware together in one purchase.
| Configuration | Black hardware | Brushed nickel hardware |
|---|---|---|
| Single sliding (1 door) | Classic single — black | Classic single — brushed nickel |
| Biparting single track (2 doors, meet in center) | Classic double — black | Classic double — brushed nickel |

Door only vs. complete kit — how to decide
| Choose door only if... | Choose a complete kit if... |
|---|---|
| You already have hardware or plan to upgrade to Goldberg Brothers | You want everything in one order with no separate hardware purchase |
| You want a finish, hanger style, or capacity not available in the complete kits | Matte black or brushed nickel house value line hardware fits your project |
| You need a configuration not covered in the complete kit lineup | You want the simplest possible ordering experience |
