Yes, because this is an external mount system that carries the full weight of the doors from the top, you must have a solid mounting surface. You either need solid blocking installed inside the wall or an external header board (ledger board) mounted to the studs.

• Installation Flexibility: Using a header board provides a continuous solid surface, allowing you the flexibility to place your track exactly where it needs to be without being restricted by the specific locations of your wall studs.

The length of your track depends on whether you want a Pass-Through System (partial access) or a Fully Clear Opening (maximum wall space).

• Pass-Through System: The track needs to be slightly wider than your opening, just enough to account for your desired door overlap when closed. Track length = opening width + door overlap on each side. Example: A 68in opening + 2in of overlap x 2 needs a 72” (5-foot) track
• Fully Clear Opening with 2 doors: To slide the doors completely off the wall. Track length = 3× the width of one door. Example: Two 36" doors need a 108" (9-foot) track.
• Fully Clear Opening with 3 or 4 doors: To slide the doors completely off the wall. Track length = 4× the width of one door. Example: Three or four 36" doors need a 144" (12-foot) track.
