Extra roller sets come up most often when customers want to reconfigure an existing setup — swapping one large door for multiple smaller panels on the same track. Extra barn door roller sets are replacement or additional hanger and wheel sets for our house value line hardware. They're not universal — they're designed specifically for house value line kits and are not compatible with Goldberg Brothers hardware. If you're looking to add rollers to a Goldberg Brothers setup, email us for a custom quote.

There are two situations where extra roller sets are genuinely useful: you're adding more door panels to an existing track, or you need to replace a flat-spotted roller. This guide covers both.

When you actually need extra roller sets

Adding more door panels to an existing track

The most common use case: a customer originally planned for one large door panel but decides to use multiple smaller panels on the same track instead. Each door panel needs its own roller set, so adding a second or third panel means adding the corresponding number of roller sets.

This works as long as the existing track is long enough to accommodate the additional panels. If you need to extend the track length, extra rollers are the wrong solution — you're better off purchasing a separate kit for the extension section and using a junction plate to join the two track sections end to end.

Replacing flat-spotted rollers

A flat spot develops when a roller sits stationary under load for extended periods, or when the door weight exceeds the roller's capacity. The symptom is a consistent bump at the same point in the door's travel. A flat-spotted roller won't self-correct — it needs to be replaced.

If only one roller in a set has flat-spotted, email us at info@thebarndoorhardwarestore.com — we can often supply a single roller rather than requiring a full set purchase. If your door is over 150 lbs, consider upgrading to steel wheels rather than replacing with the same nylon rollers — steel wheels are significantly more resistant to flat spotting under heavier loads.

If your house value line rollers have flat-spotted, it may indicate the door weight is at or above the system's 220 lb total capacity. Before replacing with the same rollers, confirm your door weight — if you're near the limit, consider whether upgrading to Goldberg Brothers hardware with a higher per-door capacity is the right long-term solution.

Available roller styles

Extra roller sets are available in nine styles to match or change the look of your existing house value line hardware:

Style Profile
J-Strap Curved strap — the most common style
Straight Strap Flat vertical strap profile
Spoke Wheel Decorative spoked wheel roller
Straight Top Mount Top edge mount — no straps on door face
Arrow Decorative arrow-shaped strap
Diamond Decorative diamond-shaped strap
Horseshoe Horseshoe-shaped frame
Royal Ornate decorative strap
Puppy Paw Paw print decorative strap

If you're replacing flat-spotted rollers, match the style of your existing hardware. If you're adding panels to an existing setup and want a consistent look, match the style of your current kit. If you're adding panels and want a deliberate mix of styles, that works too — just confirm the track and wheel dimensions are compatible before ordering.

What extra roller sets don't fix

  • Track too short. Extra rollers add door panels but don't extend track length. If the track isn't long enough for the doors you want to hang, see the junction plate approach mentioned above or email us to discuss options.
  • Goldberg Brothers hardware issues. Extra roller sets from this collection are for the house value line only. For Goldberg Brothers hardware, wheel upgrades require a new hanger set — Delrin wheels are factory-installed and can't be swapped in the field. Email us for Goldberg Brothers roller options.
  • Doors over the system capacity. The house value line is rated to 220 lbs total system weight. Adding more rollers and more doors doesn't increase the per-door or total capacity — if you're approaching the limit, the right solution is upgrading to a higher-capacity system, not adding more house value line rollers.
  • Noisy rolling. House value line rollers use nylon wheels. For doors over 150 lbs, upgrading to steel wheels is recommended — steel wheels are less prone to flat spotting under heavier loads and available as a separate purchase. If noise is the primary concern and steel wheels don't resolve it, the long-term solution is upgrading to Goldberg Brothers hardware with Delrin wheels.
