Six-door one-way bifold hardware uses six panels arranged as three 2-panel assemblies that fold and stack entirely to one side — all six panels compress into a 15 in stack on the pivot side, leaving the full opening clear. It's the right configuration for large openings up to 285 in where wall clearance is available on one side only. Goldberg Brothers J top mount only — standard and heavy duty, all 17 finish colors, made to order in the USA.
How 6-door one-way bifold works
A 6-door one-way bifold uses six panels arranged as three 2-panel assemblies, all hinged together in series on the same track. One end pivots from a fixed bracket on the pivot side. The other end slides along the track. When opened, all three assemblies fold accordion-style and stack against the pivot wall — three 2-panel folds at 5 in each — compressing into a 15 in stack on one side and leaving the full opening clear.
J top mount is the only available hanger style. A face-mounted hanger would be sandwiched inside the panel stack as the doors fold, preventing the clean 5 in per fold stack depth. J top mount attaches to the top edge of the door, keeping every panel face completely clear of hardware.
All six panels stack to the pivot side only — confirm you have approximately 15 in of clear wall space on that side plus clearance in front of the opening as the panels project outward while folding.
Sizing your 6-door one-way bifold
Track length equals total panel width — not 2× panel width as with standard sliding hardware.
| Coverage goal | Total panel width (all 6 panels) | Track length |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum coverage (2 in pivot side, 1 in non-pivot side) |
Opening + 3 in | = Total panel width |
| Fully clear — asymmetrical (15 in pivot stack, 1 in non-pivot overlap) |
Opening + 16 in | = Total panel width |
| Fully clear — symmetrical (equal overlap both sides) |
Opening + 30 in | = Total panel width |
Example for a 120 in opening (asymmetrical, fully clear): Total panel width = 136 in · Track = 136 in · Each of 6 panels ≈ 22.7 in wide
Maximum opening coverage: up to 285 in (heavy duty). For openings requiring panels to split to both sides, see our 8-door biparting bifold collection. For sizing help, see our measuring guide.
