12-Door Biparting Bifold Barn Door Hardware Kits

Technical diagram illustrating the operation of a 12-door bi-parting bi-fold system (6+6), showing six folded panels stacked on the left side and six panels stacked on the right side of the opening.

Twelve-door biparting bifold hardware uses two independent 6-door one-way assemblies — six panels on each side — that fold and stack to their respective walls when open, leaving the full opening clear. Each side is a 6-door one-way system producing a 15 in stack, split symmetrically from the center. Goldberg Brothers J top mount only — standard and heavy duty, all 17 finish colors, covers openings up to 572 in. For the full bifold buying guide, see our bifold hardware collection.

Common Questions

Choose 12-door when your opening exceeds 380 in (the 8-door biparting maximum), or when narrower individual panels are needed for your door material. Twelve panels allow the same opening to be covered with panels approximately one-third narrower than a 4-door biparting system — useful for lightweight or hollow core panels where very wide single panels may warp over time. See our 8-door biparting collection for comparison.

Approximately 15 in per side — three 2-panel folds at 5 in each. Both sides require this clearance since each operates as an independent 6-panel one-way assembly. Clearance in front of the opening is also required on both sides as the panels project outward while folding.

With six panels stacking per side, a face-mounted hanger would be sandwiched inside the panel stack as the doors fold, preventing the clean 5 in per fold stack depth. J top mount attaches to the top edge of the door only — no hardware on any door face — so all twelve panels stack tightly without interference.

No — soft close is not available for any bifold configuration.

No — both Goldberg Brothers tiers use wall-mounted bottom pivots on both sides. No floor drilling required.
