Common Questions

If your panels are within 10–15% of the standard duty limit (67.5 lbs per panel), upgrade. Hardware rated right at its working limit wears faster and performs less smoothly over time — the extra headroom in heavy duty (200 lbs per panel) matters more on bifold systems than on standard sliding hardware because the pivot and hinge points see different forces than a roller on a straight track. When in doubt, email us with your panel dimensions and material and we'll give you a direct recommendation.

Yes — Delrin wheels are available as an upgrade on heavy duty bifold hardware. Note that upgrading to Delrin reduces the per-panel weight capacity from 200 lbs to 100 lbs. Delrin wheels run quieter than steel and suit lighter solid wood or engineered wood panels well; steel wheels are the better choice for panels approaching the full 200 lbs per panel rating.

Yes — alignment plates are included with all biparting configurations (4-door biparting, 8-door biparting, and 12-door biparting). They mount to the bottom of the doors where the two assemblies meet at the center and keep the panels properly aligned when closed.

The heavy duty bifold track is 2 in wide × 3/16 in thick — the same track used across all Goldberg Brothers heavy duty hardware. This is wider than the standard duty 1-1/2 in track, which contributes to the stiffer, more rigid feel of the heavy duty system at scale.

Each configuration has its own collection page linked in the table above — browse to the right door count and select from the products there. If you're not sure which configuration covers your opening or whether one-way or biparting is right for your wall clearance, email us at info@thebarndoorhardwarestore.com before ordering.
