Common Questions

In a four-panel stack all panels fold and compress against each other. J-strap hardware mounts to the front face of the door, and in a tight multi-panel stack those roller assemblies obstruct clean folding and can scratch adjacent panels. J top mount attaches to the top edge instead, keeping every door face clear so all four panels stack without interference. The same limitation applies to any one-way configuration with more than two panels. It doesn't apply to 4-door biparting, where only two panels stack per side — there both hanger styles work.

Three situations: panels over 62.5 lbs each, panels thicker than 1-3/8 in, or panels wider than 24 in or taller than 84 in. Heavy duty handles up to 200 lbs per panel, 2-1/4 in thick, and 48 in × 108 in. Reclaimed wood, oversized panels, and thick slab doors are the primary drivers. On a four-panel span the width limit is often what decides it — four 24 in panels cap a standard duty setup at 96 in of total panel width. Note also that heavy duty needs 6-1/2 in of ceiling clearance against 5-1/2 in for standard duty.

Only if your panels are 100 lbs or less each. Delrin is rated to 100 lbs per panel, half what the standard steel wheels carry — so on a panel that needed heavy duty in the first place, it isn't an upgrade you can take. Below that threshold it's worth considering: Delrin is a polymer wheel, so it rolls more quietly and with less vibration, which matters for a bedroom, bathroom, or shared wall. It's also black only, so on any non-black finish you lose the color match. Steel ships by default and carries the full 200 lbs per panel.

10 in for a fully clear opening — the four panels fold into two 2-panel folds at 5 in each. The pivot side needs only a 1/2 in gap between the track end and any adjacent wall, so the pivot panel can rotate. Compare that to a standard sliding door, which needs clear wall equal to the full door width. Plan for room depth as well: the folded stack projects into the room by the panel width plus 1/2 in, which at heavy duty panel widths is a substantial footprint.

Eight of the seventeen. The nine designer colors — PC Chrome, Regal Red, Rocket White, Blue Ribbon, Flint Gray Texture, Dark Gray Texture, White Bronze Texture, Silver Vein, and Copper Vein — are custom orders and can't be returned for any reason. Everything else returns under the standard 25-day window with pre-approval and a 25% restocking fee.
