Door panels for western and rustic barn door installations — flat pine and vertical slat styles in the warm stains that suit the aesthetic: Early American, Red Mahogany, Royal Pine, Dark Walnut, and Unfinished. Available as individual panels to pair with our western hardware collection, as complete door + hardware kits, and as edge wrap kits for building a custom door from any locally sourced slab or reclaimed board. For most western projects — particularly those involving reclaimed wood or thick solid panels — sourcing the door locally and pairing with hardware is the more practical and cost-effective path.
Panel styles and stain recommendations
- Flat pine panel — the most flexible starting point for a western door. In Early American stain it has the warm golden-brown tone of aged pine that reads naturally in ranch and rustic western spaces. In Dark Walnut it's richer and more dramatic. In Unfinished it accepts any custom stain, oil, or finish — including period-appropriate treatments like lye, vinegar, or tung oil for an authentically aged appearance.
- Vertical slat — clean vertical planks with deliberate spacing. In Royal Pine or Early American with arch bronze or rustic brown J-strap hardware it reads as contemporary ranch. In Dark Walnut with wagon wheel hardware it's more dramatic and boldly western.
For reclaimed wood, thick hardwood slabs, or custom-dimensioned western doors, source locally from a lumber yard or salvage supplier and order hardware separately. Reclaimed panels arrive already weathered and aged — no finishing required. See our DIY vs. kit guide for a full comparison.
Edge wrap kits are here for building a custom western door from any locally sourced panel — Goldberg Brothers steel channels in arch bronze, rustic brown, or Jacob's gold finish the edges and allow hardware mounting. See our edge wrap collection for details.
