Common Questions

Both cover the same opening with two doors in a pass-through bypass setup. The single bypass uses one shared track — the front door hangs on a bent hanger and the back door uses a standard hanger to offset it on the same track. This keeps the hardware profile lower on the wall. The limitation is that when both doors slide to the same side, the rollers can collide before the doors fully stack, leaving a small gap you can't eliminate. The Classic Double Bypass uses two completely separate parallel tracks — the doors can fully stack without interference, but the hardware is more prominent on the wall.

Bypass kits include the hardware needed to hang and slide the doors. Handles are not bundled because bypass installations vary in how they're used. Add what you need separately: see our barn door handles collection. Note that soft close is not compatible with single bypass hardware.

No — this kit is configured for pass-through use only. Neither door fully clears the opening on its own in the pass-through position. Additionally, the single bypass design means the rollers can collide before the doors fully stack, so there's always some remaining overlap when both doors are slid open. If a full clear opening is required, email us at info@thebarndoorhardwarestore.com.

Yes — both panels are identical in construction even though they hang on different hanger types (one standard, one bent). Assemble both door panels before installing any hardware. Decorative diagonal panels are included with both doors and optional to install — if you use them, decide on your pattern and keep both doors consistent. Plan for 2–3 hours total for door assembly before installation.

We'd almost always recommend that approach — it's significantly better value. See our single bypass hardware collection for hardware-only options, or email us at info@thebarndoorhardwarestore.com and we can help you select the right kit.
