Classic Single Bypass 2 Door Barn Door Kit | Black Hardware

Door width per panel: Single bypass sizing depends on your roller type because each roller has a mandatory door overlap — the minimum the two doors must physically overlap each other. For J-Strap or Straight Strap (6 in mandatory overlap): normal = (opening + 10 in) ÷ 2 · extra privacy = (opening + 12 in) ÷ 2. For Spoke Wheel (9 in mandatory overlap): normal = (opening + 13 in) ÷ 2 · extra privacy = (opening + 15 in) ÷ 2. Select your roller type first, then calculate. Example: 48 in opening with J-Strap, normal → (48 + 10) ÷ 2 = 29 in → select 30 in.

Door height: Select 80 in or 84 in. The door should be at least 1 in taller than the opening — more is fine — to leave adequate floor clearance. On carpet or uneven floors, confirm there is enough clearance for both doors to slide without dragging.

Ceiling clearance: Clearance required between the top of the door and the ceiling depends on your roller type. Straight Strap requires 5 in; J-Strap requires 6 in; Spoke Wheel requires 8 in. Measure this gap before selecting a roller style.

Track length: Determined automatically by the door width you select — see the sizing reference below. One shared track ships with the kit.

Wall header: A solid header above the opening is required for track mounting. If there is no existing header or backing in the wall, install a minimum 1×6 hardwood board (3/4 in thick × 5-1/2 in wide) that extends past the length of the track to the next stud or structural support point on each side. Wall clearance: Because this is a pass-through configuration, the doors don't need to fully clear the opening. The only wall clearance required on each side is the door's overlap onto the frame — 2 in for a standard setup or 3 in for extra privacy. Confirm there are no switches, outlets, or trim that would prevent the door from sitting flush at those overlap points.

• Decorative diagonal panels — included with both doors; optional to install. Creates plain, X, Z, or arrow pattern on each panel.

Bypass hardware — front door (bent hanger)

• Bent hanger/roller set (2) — offsets the front door from the back door on the shared track
• Hex bolt set (4)
• L-shape anti-jump system (2)
• U-channel wall-mounted floor guide (1) — compatible with bypass; attaches to baseboard, no floor drilling

Tools needed for door assembly: rubber mallet, drill or Phillips screwdriver, flathead screwdriver.

Door Stain — Select your finish from the color swatches. Unfinished ships in 2–3 days and arrives ready to stain on your own timeline. Both panels come in the same stain. All other options are pre-stained and ship in 7–8 business days.

Door Width — Select the width per panel based on your roller type and opening. J-Strap or Straight Strap: (opening + 10 in) ÷ 2 normal, (opening + 12 in) ÷ 2 extra privacy.
