Common Questions

Both are 2-door bypass kits covering one opening, but they use different track systems. The Classic Single Bypass uses one shared track — the doors ride at slightly different heights but on the same track plane, which means the wheels can collide when both doors reach the center, limiting how fully they can stack. The Classic Double Bypass uses two completely separate parallel tracks at different wall depths — the doors can fully stack behind each other without wheel interference. The double bypass is more functional; the single bypass has a lower hardware profile on the wall.

Bypass kits include the hardware needed to hang and slide the doors. Handles, flush pulls, and soft close are not bundled because bypass installations vary more in how they're used — some customers want handles on both sides of both doors, others only need them on one side, and soft close preferences differ. Add what you need separately: see our barn door handles collection and the soft-close mechanism.

No — this kit is configured for pass-through use only. In a pass-through bypass, one door slides behind the other but neither fully clears the opening on its own. For a fully open bypass where both doors stack completely clear of the doorway, the track length would need to be substantially longer and the kit would need to be configured differently. Email us at info@thebarndoorhardwarestore.com if a full clear opening is required.

Yes — both panels are identical in construction and use the same component set. Assemble both before hanging. The decorative diagonal panels are included with both doors and optional to install — if you use them, decide on your pattern and keep both doors consistent. Plan for 2–3 hours total for door assembly before installation.

We'd almost always recommend that approach — it's significantly better value. See our double bypass hardware collection for hardware-only options, or email us at info@thebarndoorhardwarestore.com and we can help you select the right kit for your doors.
