Common Questions

In a six-panel stack all panels fold and compress against each other. J-strap hardware mounts to the front face of the door, and in a stack this deep those roller assemblies obstruct clean folding and can scratch adjacent panels. J top mount attaches to the top edge instead, keeping every door face clear so all six panels stack without interference. The same limitation applies to any one-way configuration with more than two panels.

15 in for a fully clear opening — the six panels fold into three 2-panel folds at 5 in each. The pivot side needs only a 1/2 in gap between the track end and any adjacent wall, so the pivot panel can rotate. Plan for room depth as well: the folded stack projects into the room by the panel width plus 1/2 in. With six panels the stack is deep against the wall but the projection is modest, since each panel is comparatively narrow.

Both cover comparable spans. One-way puts the entire stack on a single side — 15 in of clearance there, 1/2 in on the pivot side — and needs opening + 30 in of total panel width for a centered closed look. 12-door biparting splits into three folds each way, so it needs 15 in on both sides but only opening + 30 in as well, with narrower individual panels. If clearance exists on only one side, one-way is your option. If both sides are clear, biparting is worth comparing.

Because all six panels stack to one side, and the constant equals the stack depth on both sides — 15 in of folded panels on the stack side, matched on the other so the closed doors sit centered over the opening. If a centered look and a fully clear opening aren't both required, the minimum coverage formula at opening + 3 in uses noticeably narrower panels.

Eight of the seventeen. The nine designer colors — PC Chrome, Regal Red, Rocket White, Blue Ribbon, Flint Gray Texture, Dark Gray Texture, White Bronze Texture, Silver Vein, and Copper Vein — are custom orders and can't be returned for any reason. Everything else returns under the standard 25-day window with pre-approval and a 25% restocking fee.
