The Goldberg Brothers router template is the right way to mortise a flush pull or privacy latch into a barn door. It's a 1/4 in thick plastic template — locate it on the door, clamp it down, and rout. The template guides the router for a clean, precise mortise without measuring by hand or free-routing. One template covers three applications: the 12 in flush pull, the 6 in flush pull (using the included insert), and the privacy latch (using the second included insert).

Required for clean installation of Goldberg Brothers flush pulls. Shimming of the router guide may be required depending on your router setup. If you have questions about router setup compatibility, email us before ordering.

Does this template work for both the 6 in and 12 in flush pulls?

Yes — the main template handles the 12 in flush pull directly. The 6 in flush pull uses a smaller insert that drops into the template opening, reducing the routed area to the correct size for the 6 in pull. The same template also works for the Goldberg Brothers privacy latch using a second included insert. One purchase covers all three applications.

Do I need any special router setup?

You need a router with a guide bushing (also called a template guide). For the 12 in flush pull, use a 3/4 in OD guide bushing with a 1/2 in straight router bit set to 1/2 in depth. For the 6 in flush pull and privacy latch inserts, use a 1/2 in OD guide bushing with a 1/4 in bit at 1/2 in depth. Shimming of the guide may be required depending on your router base — check the fit before routing.

Can I use this template for flush pulls from other brands?

This template is designed specifically for Goldberg Brothers flush pulls and the Goldberg Brothers privacy latch. The mortise dimensions are matched precisely to those products. It will not produce the correct mortise for flush pulls from other manufacturers.
