Common Questions

Both are a result of the spoke wheel's larger roller diameter. More clearance is needed above the door because the wheel extends further from the track. The larger center overlap results from the larger wheel requiring the bent hanger to offset the front door further forward — the greater forward offset means the wheels interleave more deeply, producing a 9 in overlap vs 6 in for J-strap or straight strap bypass. If a smaller overlap matters for your installation, J-strap or straight strap bypass are the alternatives.

The front door uses a bent stair-step hanger that positions it forward from the wall. The front door's outer wheel sits between the two wheels of the back door, which runs a standard spoke wheel hanger close to the track. The interleaved wheels allow both doors to travel the full track. When one door's travel is exhausted its wheels contact the other door's, carrying it along — the telescoping effect.

Partially. Each door moves on its own until it reaches the end of its travel, then the wheel contact engages and carries the other. For fully independent door movement, see our double bypass hardware.

The front door is controlled by an adjustable wall-mounted guide that attaches to the back door — using the back door as a reference point to constrain the front door across its full travel range. The back door uses a floor-mounted T guide. Both are included. If you prefer not to drill the floor for the back door guide, a wall-mounted alternative is in our floor guides collection.
