The critical step upfront: choose your diamond panel arrangement from the four possible designs and apply the same pattern to both doors before you start. Mixing patterns between the two panels is possible but will look inconsistent — decide first. Plan for 2–3 hours total for door assembly before installation. A trigger clamp is optional but helpful for holding panels while fasteners set.

Both doors arrive as raw solid pine, and the kit ships in 3–5 business days, compared with 8–10 business days for the pre-stained options. The hardware is black either way. Finish the pieces before you assemble them, and do both doors in the same session so the color matches across the pair. The crossing diagonal grooves on the C panels and the edges that sit inside the frame are much easier to reach while everything is flat.

All three use flippable C panels that create different design variations. The slanted panels run at a single diagonal angle — bold, graphic lines. The fishbone panels are V-shaped — herringbone arrangements where diagonals meet at a point. The diamond pattern panels use two diagonal directions simultaneously — the lines cross each other to form a lattice or diamond grid across the door face. Barn doors don't seal like hinged doors — there will be a small gap at the edges and at the center meeting point — so if sound isolation is the primary concern, a hinged door is the more effective choice. For privacy, a properly sized biparting barn door works well.
