Common Questions

Because 100 lbs is a per-hanger rating for this mounting style, and hardware size doesn't change it — a wider track and a heavier arm don't add capacity to the hanger. What does change it is roller count: a third hanger takes the kit to 150 lbs. What "heavy duty" buys you here is a thicker door, up to 2-1/4 in, all 17 finishes, and the 2 in track — not more weight.

Two clear reasons: your door is thicker than 1-3/4 in, or you want a finish outside the four available on the standard duty line. Beyond that it's a wheel preference. This kit ships color-matched steel; the standard J top mount ships Delrin, a polymer wheel that runs quieter but comes in black only. Both wheels are available on both kits. If neither the thickness nor the finish applies, the standard J top mount does the same job for less.

The track above the door and the track stops. The hanger arm sits on top of the door edge — visible above the door, but not on the front face. From straight on you see the door panel, the track, and the hanger arm above the door top. No straps on the door face.

Delrin is quieter — it's a polymer wheel rather than steel on steel, so it produces less noise and vibration, which matters for bedrooms, bathrooms, and shared walls. Steel is color-matched to your finish; Delrin comes in black only, so on any other finish you'd see a black wheel above the door. Unlike the face-mounted heavy duty kits, choosing Delrin here doesn't reduce your weight capacity — it stays at 100 lbs either way. It's purely a quiet-versus-matched decision.

A third hanger takes this kit to 150 lbs. It isn't a checkout option, so request one on our custom quote page with your door weight, width, and thickness. Above 150 lbs, hidden roller hardware is the other route that keeps the door face clear — the rollers mount to the back of the door at 125 or 250 lbs on a stock kit, though it measures the door off the rough opening rather than the opening height, so check that math before committing.
