Common Questions

The track above the door and the track stops are visible. The hanger hardware — the J-shaped arm and roller assembly — sits above and behind the door panel, out of view from straight-on. From most normal viewing angles, you see the door and the track. No straps on the door face.

Top edge mounting distributes the door's load differently than front face mounting. The geometry of how the hanger transfers force to the track limits the rated capacity to 100 lbs per door in this configuration. It's not a quality issue — it's a mechanical constraint of the mounting position. For doors over 100 lbs that need the top mount style, adding additional rollers is an option — email us for details and pricing.

No. Holes are drilled at installation, not pre-drilled at the factory. Because top mount and face mount hardware use different hole positions, doors ship without pre-drilled hardware holes to avoid putting the wrong holes in the wrong place. The installation instructions walk through hole placement. Your door does come with a pre-cut slot in the bottom edge for the floor guide.

Top mount capacity in both standard and heavy duty configurations is limited by the mounting geometry — it's not simply a matter of upgrading to heavier hardware. If you need more than 100 lbs of capacity with a top mount style, one option is adding additional rollers to distribute the load further. For bedroom doors, bathroom doors, doors on shared walls, or any high-traffic door — yes. For a low-traffic pantry or utility door it's optional. Soft close can be added before checkout or retrofitted after installation if you decide you want it later.
