Minimalist Straight Top Mount Barn Door Hardware Kit

Door weight: Up to 75 lbs. Between 75–100 lbs? See the J top mount kit. Between 100–200 lbs? See the J-strap kit. Over 200 lbs? See heavy duty hardware.

Door thickness: 1‑3/8 in to 1‑3/4 in. Outside this range? See heavy duty hardware.

Wall clearance beside opening: Must equal full door width on the slide side. Limited clearance? See bypass or bifold hardware.

Wall header: A solid header above the opening is required for track mounting. If there is no existing header or backing in the wall, we recommend installing a minimum 1×6 hardwood board (3/4 in thick × 5-1/2 in wide) that extends past the length of the track to the next stud or structural support point on each side. Ceiling clearance above door: 4 in required — the lowest clearance in the standard duty lineup.

Door width: Your door must be wider than the rough opening. For standard rooms plan for 2 in of wall overlap on each side — opening + 4 in. For bedrooms and bathrooms, 3 in per side gives better privacy — opening + 6 in. Minimum functional overlap is 1/2 in per side. See our measuring guide for full sizing formulas.

Door height: Measure from finished floor to the top of the rough opening and add 1 in. The extra inch covers the top of the opening while leaving 1/2 to 1 in of clearance at the bottom for the door to slide without dragging. If you have thick carpet, check that clearance is adequate along the full travel path before ordering.

The finish is a rustic raw or powder-coated steel — minor cosmetic marks and surface patina over time are characteristic, not defects, and aren't covered (stainless excepted). Tracks over 7'6" ship in multiple sections with junction plates included. If you have finished hardwood, tile, or LVP, you'll need a wall-mounted floor guide instead of the included floor-mounted guide.

Mount into solid blocking or a header board — at minimum a 1×6 hardwood — to distribute the door's weight securely across multiple studs. Step-by-step install guides are available for every kit.

Hardware kits don't include handles or a latch — plan for these before checkout to avoid a second shipment:

• Handles: Bar pull or D-pull for the room-facing side — browse our handles collection
• Flush pull: For the wall-facing side if the door needs to be operated from both sides — browse our flush pulls collection
• Latch: Keeps the door closed deliberately — browse our latches collection

The track must be at least 2× the door width for the door to fully clear the opening. Measure the door panel — not the rough opening.

Single door: 2× door width — e.g. 36 in door → 72 in track

Biparting (2 doors): 2× combined door width — e.g. two 36 in doors → 144 in track

For biparting: add both door widths together first, then double the combined total. Every track is custom-cut to your specification. If the length you need isn't listed, request a custom quote — non-standard lengths are priced the same as the next standard size up.
