Total system weight capacity: 220 lbs combined across all doors. For a two-door setup, both doors together must stay under 220 lbs.
Door thickness: 1-3/8 in to 1-3/4 in.
Ceiling clearance above door: 6 in required.
Door overlap when closed: Approximately 6 in at center — the front door's wheel sits between the back door's wheels, so the two doors cannot meet flush edge-to-edge. If a flush center closure is required, see our double bypass hardware.
Wall header: A solid header above the opening is required for track mounting. If there is no existing header or backing in the wall, we recommend installing a minimum 1×6 hardwood board (3/4 in thick × 5-1/2 in wide) that extends past the length of the track to the next stud or structural support point on each side. No solid header and cannot install one? See ceiling mount hardware.
Door width: Each door must cover half the opening plus your chosen wall overlap on the outer edge, plus account for the 6 in center overlap. For standard rooms: each door = (opening + 10 in) ÷ 2. Example: 60 in opening → (60 + 10) ÷ 2 = 35 in per door. See our measuring guide for full formulas.
Door height: Measure from finished floor to the top of the rough opening and add 1 in. The extra inch covers the top of the opening while leaving 1/2 to 1 in of clearance at the bottom for the door to slide without dragging. If you have thick carpet, check that clearance is adequate along the full travel path before ordering.
Track length: Depends on whether you need pass-through access or a fully clear opening — see the track length section below.
