Common Questions

Three differences: scale, weight capacity, and door thickness range. This kit uses a 1-1/4 in wide track vs the 1-1/2 in track on standard hardware, carries up to 75 lbs vs 200 lbs, and is designed for panels 3/4 to 1-1/8 in thick — the range of most cabinet and shutter panels. The hanger style and aesthetic are the same as full-size straight strap hardware; it just scales down proportionally for smaller applications.

The included adjustable wall-mounted guide attaches to the wall at the side of the opening and keeps the bottom of the door from swinging away from the wall during operation. Because it mounts to the wall rather than the floor, no drilling into finished floors is required. It adjusts in width to fit the panel thickness.

No — this kit is designed for cabinet doors and shutter panels, not full-size interior doors. The 75 lb weight limit and 1-1/8 in maximum door thickness rule out most standard interior doors. For full-size applications, see our standard barn door hardware kits.

The 2-door option includes hardware for two panels that share one track and split from the center — each panel slides to one side when open. It's the right choice when you have a wider opening to cover and want both halves of the door to clear symmetrically. The track length must equal at least the combined width of both panels.

Yes — the track mounts to the wall or cabinet structure above the opening and requires solid backing to hold securely. In most cabinet installations this is already provided by the cabinet frame or a reinforced header. If there's no solid backing at the track mounting points, install a minimum 1×6 hardwood board (3/4 in thick × 5-1/2 in wide) that extends past the track to the next structural support point on each side.
