The straight strap cabinet barn door hardware kit in matte black is a compact sliding hardware system designed for cabinet doors, pantry doors, TV stands, and other small-scale applications. The straight strap hanger mounts to the front face of the door in a clean horizontal line — a more minimal aesthetic than the J-strap curve, sitting flush along the door face rather than angling away from it. A floor-mounted T-guide is included to keep the bottom of the door tracking straight.

This is a quick-ship kit — in stock and ships in 2–3 business days. Track lengths are available from 24 in to 120 in. The 2-door option configures the hardware for a biparting setup — two panels sharing one track, splitting from the center.

Door width: Opening + 4 in for standard coverage (2 in overlap each side); opening + 6 in for more coverage. Minimum overlap is 1/2 in per side. For biparting, each panel = (opening + 4 in) ÷ 2. See the track length section below for worked examples.

Door height: Opening height + 1 in. Leaves approximately 1/2 to 1 in of floor clearance.

Door thickness: 1/2 in to 1-1/4 in.

Clearance above cabinet door: 3 in required between the top of the door panel and any obstruction above — cabinet frame, shelf, or ceiling. This is 1 in less than the J-strap and top mount styles, making straight strap the right choice when clearance above the door is especially tight.

Backing above opening: A solid backing above the opening is required for track mounting — typically the cabinet frame, a reinforced header, or a hardwood board. If there is no solid backing, install a minimum 1×6 hardwood board (3/4 in thick × 5-1/2 in wide) that extends past the track to the next structural support point on each side.

The track must be at least twice the door width to allow the door to slide fully clear of the opening. Select the track length closest to your requirement, rounding up to the next available size.

Door width: Opening + 4 in for standard coverage (2 in overlap each side). Minimum 1/2 in per side.

Track length: 2× door width.

Single door example: 18 in opening → door width = 18 + 4 = 22 in → track = 44 in → select 48 in track.

Biparting (2-door) example: 36 in opening → each panel = (36 + 4) ÷ 2 = 20 in → track = 2 × combined panel width = 2 × 40 = 80 in → select 84 in track.

What's the difference between this kit and the Goldberg Brothers mini cabinet kit?

Lead time, capacity, and options. This kit ships in 2–3 business days from stock, in matte black only, with fixed track lengths up to 120 in and a 50 lb total capacity. The Goldberg Brothers mini kit is made to order in 10–15 business days but offers all 17 powder coat finishes, custom track lengths up to 144 in, and a 75 lb per door capacity. If your cabinet door is on the heavier side, needs a specific finish, or requires a non-standard track length, Goldberg Brothers is the right choice.

What does the floor-mounted T-guide do?

The floor-mounted T-guide installs directly below the door panel. A small slot in the bottom edge of the door slides over the T-guide, keeping the door tracking straight and preventing it from swinging away from the wall. It is compatible with all door thicknesses in the supported range (1/2 to 1-1/4 in) and does not require adjustment. Installation requires two small screws into the floor. Why does the straight strap style require less clearance than the other styles?

On J-strap and most other roller styles, the hanger includes a curved piece that wraps up and over the wheel — that overhead section adds height above the door and drives the 4 in clearance requirement. The straight strap attaches directly to the door face without any piece going over the wheel, so the roller assembly sits lower in profile above the door. The result is 3 in of required clearance instead of 4 in — making straight strap the right choice when overhead space above the cabinet door is especially tight.

What's the biparting (2-door) option?

The 2-door option includes hardware for two panels that share one track and split from the center — each panel slides to one side when open. Select "Hardware for 2 Cabinet Doors." The track length must be double the combined width of both panels.

Can I use this for a full-size interior door?

No — this kit is designed for cabinet doors and small panels. The 50 lb total system capacity and 1-1/4 in maximum door thickness rule out most standard interior doors. For full-size applications, see our standard barn door hardware kits.
