4-1/4" Stainless Steel Cabin Hook Barn Door Latch – Modern Privacy Lock

The 90-degree stainless flip latch is designed specifically for the closed position, where the door face and jamb wall are perpendicular. The cabin hook works in any orientation — the eye can mount to any wall surface within reach, and the hook can hold the door in any position along its travel, not just closed. The hook is a fixed 4-1/4 in, so the eye mounts wherever that length reaches —
which is why the cabin hook wants a wall surface within range, while the flip latch only ever works at the closed position. If you want to hold the door fully open as well as closed, the cabin hook handles both. The flip latch does not.

It holds the door in position — it's a privacy latch, not a security lock. The hook drops into the eye and prevents the door from sliding, but it does not lock with a key and is not designed to resist forced entry. For bathroom and bedroom privacy, it's the right solution. Stainless steel doesn't rely on a surface coating to resist moisture. The matte black version is powder-coated carbon steel — suitable for dry interiors but not rated for sustained moisture exposure.
