Common Questions

The 2-panel frosted glass kit has frosted glass filling the full door height — two glass panels stacked top to bottom. This half-lite kit has frosted glass in the upper half only, with solid vertical pine planks in the lower half. The half-lite design lets in light while keeping the lower section fully solid and visually grounded. It's closer in character to a traditional half-light door; the all-glass kit has a more open, contemporary look.

The frosted glass panel diffuses light and obscures clear visibility — you'll see light and general movement through the upper panel, but not detail. The solid plank lower half provides complete visual separation from the floor up. Overall privacy is better than an all-glass panel door since more than half the door surface is opaque. For spaces where full visual privacy is essential, a solid-panel door is still the more secure choice.

No — the stain applies to the pine frame and the plank bottom section only. The frosted glass panel itself is not stained and its appearance is fixed. When selecting a stain color, consider how it will look paired with the translucent upper panel — the two elements will be visible together at all times.

Yes — the glass panel and plank bottom components both slide into the pre-built frame structure during assembly rather than being screwed in directly. A few important steps to follow: remove the red locator stickers from the glass panel before sliding it in. For the foam dowels in the A-panel stiles — keep them in place on the wood (plank) half of the door to stabilize the C1, C2, and C3 panels and prevent gaps, but remove them on the glass half before inserting the glass panel. Handle the glass with gloves throughout. Epoxy adhesive such as E6000 is optional but can help secure the glass panel once it is seated.

We'd almost always recommend that approach for anyone who can source panels locally — it's significantly better value. See our hardware kits collection for single-door options, or email us at info@thebarndoorhardwarestore.com and we can help you pick the right kit.
