Common Questions

Yes, and it's the only hardware we carry that is. Powder-coated steel is designed for interiors — under sustained moisture, salt air, or rain the coating eventually chips and the steel underneath corrodes. Stainless is a corrosion-resistant alloy throughout rather than a coating, so there's no surface layer to breach. It's also the only line where rust is covered under the warranty; on every other product, rust from outdoor or high-humidity exposure is excluded. Coastal properties, covered exterior installs, outdoor showers, and pool houses are all suitable.

In a dry interior, powder coat holds up for years and you don't need stainless for corrosion resistance. The reason to choose it indoors is the finish — raw stainless has a look powder coat doesn't replicate — plus the matched fasteners. On a J-strap the bolt heads sit on the door face, and on powder-coated steel they ship in clear zinc or black oxide, reading as a deliberate contrast against the hardware. On stainless all three finishes ship matched. It costs more and takes 14-21 days rather than 10-15.

Only if your door is under 200 lbs. The Delrin wheel is rated to 200 lbs per door, half what the stainless wheels carry, so on a heavy door it isn't an upgrade you can take. Below that threshold, Delrin is a polymer wheel that rolls more quietly than metal on metal, which matters for a bedroom, bathroom, or shared wall. Two other things to weigh: it's black only, so on Raw Stainless you'd see a black wheel, and a polymer wheel doesn't have the same exposure history outdoors — for a coastal or exterior install, we'd stay with stainless.

Stainless steel handles are the natural match — same material, same corrosion resistance, same suitability for outdoor and coastal environments. For the powder-coated stainless finishes, Matte Black Texture matches Matte Black Texture handles and Black matches Black. Browse the handles collection and filter for stainless, or email us with your hardware finish and we'll confirm.

The kit includes spacers that set the track's baseline standoff, but clearing trim that projects from the wall takes extra spacers on top of those. That's the trim clearance kit in the options above — measure how far the casing or baseboard stands off the wall and match the size: 1/2 in, 7/8 in, or 1-1/4 in. More than 1-1/4 in and you're past what any tier reaches, so email us before ordering. Trim that sits above the opening is a different problem, solved by sizing the door taller rather than by spacers.
