The felt-lined large roller guide uses a 1-1/4 in nylon roller — larger than the standard 3/4 in roller — paired with an adhesive-backed felt pad. The larger roller diameter provides more contact surface and rolls more smoothly over uneven or textured door surfaces, making it a good choice for rough-sawn, textured, or reclaimed-wood doors where a smaller roller might catch or bounce. Mounts to the wall or baseboard — no floor drilling, no door slot required.

Common Questions

When does the larger roller make a difference?

Textured, rough-sawn, or reclaimed-wood doors benefit most — the larger contact surface rolls more smoothly over an uneven bottom edge. For smooth factory-finished doors, the standard 3/4 in roller in the felt-lined roller guide works just as well and costs less. Choose the large roller when the door surface is rough or when you want a smoother feel.

Why is this only available for 1-1/4 to 1-3/4 in doors?

The large felt-lined guide doesn't have an extended bracket version. For doors between 1-3/4 and 2-1/4 in thick, the Large and Small Wheel guide covers both thickness ranges and uses a similar large-roller configuration.

Does this require drilling into the floor?

No — it mounts to the wall or baseboard with wood screws. The door bottom doesn't need a slot either. If you'd prefer a floor-mounted guide, see the T floor guide (requires a door slot) or the Adjustable U Floor Guide (no slot needed).
