Stainless steel barn door hardware is the right choice for two situations: outdoor, coastal, and high-humidity environments where standard powder-coated hardware won't hold up long-term, and interior installs where the hardware finish itself is part of the design. Goldberg Brothers only, made to order in the USA with a 14–21 day lead time, available in raw stainless, matte black texture, and black. See our outdoor sliding door guide for installation considerations in exposed environments.
Stainless steel barn door hardware serves two distinct situations — and you only need one of them to apply. The first: outdoor, coastal, or high-humidity environments where standard powder-coated hardware won't hold up long-term. Salt air, poolside moisture, and covered exterior installations are where stainless hardware earns its price. The second: interior installs where the hardware finish itself is part of the design — a premium, refined look that reads differently than a powder coat. It costs more than standard kits, but the end result is noticeably different.
This collection is Goldberg Brothers only, made to order in the USA. Lead time is 14–21 business days — longer than our other Goldberg products due to the additional manufacturing requirements of stainless steel. Available in three finishes: raw stainless, matte black texture, and black. Handles are not included — order separately from our handles collection.

When stainless steel is the right choice
| Situation | Why stainless |
|---|---|
| Coastal and saltwater environments | Salt air corrodes standard powder-coated hardware over time. Stainless resists it. |
| Outdoor and covered exterior installations | Temperature fluctuation and moisture exposure that would degrade standard hardware over time. |
| Bathrooms, pool houses, and spa areas | High-humidity interior spaces where corrosion resistance matters for the long term. |
| Premium interior installs | When the hardware finish is part of the design — a refined, high-end aesthetic that powder coat doesn't match. |
| Glass door installations | Our glass door kits are stainless steel only — dedicated hardware for the weight and mounting requirements of glass panels. |
For a standard interior wood door in a dry environment, stainless steel is not necessary — standard sliding hardware handles it at a lower cost. Choose stainless when the environment or aesthetic genuinely calls for it.
Track length
The same rule applies as with all sliding barn door hardware: the track must be at least 2× the door width for the door to fully clear the opening. A 36 in door needs a minimum 72 in track. Measure the door panel — not the rough opening.
Every track is custom-cut to your specified length. Tracks over 7'6" ship in multiple sections with junction plates included. Non-standard lengths are available at the same price as the next standard size up — email us at info@thebarndoorhardwarestore.com before ordering to confirm. For the full track length formula reference, see our track length guide.
