DIY Barn Door Panels

A close-up showcasing a custom-made wood barn door with vertical slat panels and classic J-strap hardware in a matte black finish.

Barn door panels sold here are solid pine, available finished and unfinished, in standard sizes only — hardware is sold separately in our hardware kits collection. For most projects, sourcing a door panel locally from a lumber yard or millwork supplier produces a better result at lower cost — you avoid freight markup and the door arrives already acclimated to your climate. We carry these panels because some customers need them, but we'll always say so when sourcing locally is the smarter move — see our DIY vs. custom guide for a full comparison.

Common Questions

No — door panels only. To hang a sliding barn door you'll need a hardware kit purchased separately. Browse our barn door hardware kits and match the kit to your door size and configuration. If you want door and hardware in one purchase, our barn door kits bundle them together.

Solid pine. Available in finished and unfinished options — check the individual product for finish details. Unfinished panels are ready for you to paint or stain before installation.

No. Our value line comes in standard sizing only. If you need a non-standard size, a local lumber yard or millwork supplier is your best option. Once you have a door, purchase hardware from our hardware kits collection and email us your dimensions — we'll confirm the right track length and configuration before anything ships.

Start with your door width and your opening configuration — single sliding, bypass, or bifold. Our hardware kits collection walks through each configuration and includes a track length reference table by door width. If you're not sure after reading through it, email us the door dimensions and we'll tell you exactly what you need.

No — you'll drill your own holes at installation. We carry both top-mounted and face-mounted hardware, and the mounting hole placement is different for each, so doors ship without pre-drilled hardware holes to avoid putting the wrong holes in the wrong place. One thing that is pre-cut: all doors come with a slot in the bottom edge for the floor guide. Installation instructions for every hardware configuration are available in our install guides.
